Located just outside Lefkada City, Wooden Bridge is a stunning kitesurfing spot set in a tranquil area protected by the Natura 2000 network. Surrounded by turquoise waters and shielded by a natural reef, the location is completely free of buildings—except for the small, iconic Agios Nikolaos church, which marks the southern edge of the area and offers a second, more remote kiting launch.
The beach itself is narrow and covered in pebbles, which can make walking a bit uncomfortable, but once you're on the water, it’s all worth it. Thanks to the nearby reef, the water is butter-flat, making this an ideal spot for freestyle riders looking to train new tricks in calm, predictable conditions. The rideable stretch covers up to 2 kilometers, with the beach itself extending about 1 km.
The spot works best in southwest, west, and northwest winds, with typical summer wind speeds ranging from 12 to 24 knots. The main season sees reliable afternoon thermals, and the reef creates a sheltered, smooth surface perfect for progression.
There is a parking area around 320 meters from the launch, but you’ll need to walk in and cross a wooden bridge to reach the beach. Note that break-ins have been reported, so it's highly recommended not to leave valuables in your car.
While the spot is suitable for most kitesurfers, it’s not ideal for absolute beginners due to the relatively small lagoon area, which can get quite busy with advanced riders, especially in August. However, many kiters ride downwind to Agios Nikolaos Church, which offers a wider and safer area with similar conditions and even fewer crowds—making it a popular alternative launch within the same zone.
Whether you're chasing flatwater freestyle sessions or looking for a quiet escape near the city, Wooden Bridge offers unique scenery, quality wind, and the kind of riding that makes Lefkada a staple on the European kite map.
Close to Lefkada, this spot is very nice. The beach is from white pebbles (hard to walk on) but the water is crystal clear. There is a bar on the beach and usually the wind is blowing almost every day during the season. Around 14 knots. But be careful while parking close to the wooden bridge. Don’t let your things visible in the car, there are often thieves stealing things from the cars…
No, this spot is not good for foiling. The lagoon is small and if you want to go to the deep water, there are reefs to cross. Better is Milos beach, Bouka or Agios Nikolaos.
