Ilha do Guajiro, known also as Praia da Barra has an upwind sandbank, which is 3.1 miles long and up to 440 yards wide, reliably shelters the flat water location from any waves. Kiteboarding is mostly done in the lagoon's northwest corner. This is because the mangrove plants provide some wind protection the further upwind you go. The sheltered trees on the sandbank continue to increase in size year after year.
The majority of the freestylers congregate just in front of the lodgings, or at the "primary place," as it were. You now have two options if you like to kitesurf in the sea. You kite downwind for a while before heading out into the open sea after the river's mouth. Alternatively, you can cross to a narrow section of the sandbank and walk the rest of the way to the water.
Depending on wind intensity and tides, you can expect choppy water or small to medium waves at sea.
Beginners frequently start more downwind in order to have more open area. Ilha do Guajiru is a safe place to kitesurf. You'll generally find knee- to waist-deep water at the right tide. The combination of the offshore peninsula and the onshore wind ensures that neither you nor your gear will get misplaced. All of this makes this a great place to learn to kite.
This kite site is well known far beyond its bounds for its high wind likelihood. However, the wind can get very strong in November, especially for lightweights.
Because the lagoon's massive basin contains more or less brackish water, the clothes may have an unpleasant odor after drying.
