Rinia Beach is located north of Durres. It is the most well-known kitesurfing destination in Albania.
Rinia Sector is a huge sandy beach with several dozen beach bars, umbrellas and large parking lots in front of the access road. You can comfortably drive across the hard sand to the back of the beach, which is popular with kitesurfers in windy weather.
The sand area for parking and launching kites is huge, but unfortunately it can also be full of rubbish. When it's not windy, especially on weekends, the kitesurfers are replaced by dozens of cars and hundreds of people from Durres who come here for a picnic.
Otherwise, the Rinia Sector is a very interesting piece of nature and an Albanian paradise for kitesurfers.
The entry into the water is so gradual that even hundreds of meters from the beach you still only have waist-deep water. Unfortunately, even a hundred meters from the beach, you can come across a shallow area where the water is very shallow, which is not visible at first glance due to the stirred up sand. If you don't know the place, it's very risky to try big jumps here.
There is also a large lagoon with flat water, but unfortunately the water here is even shallower, barely up to the ankles, which makes kitesurfing and freestyle impossible.
The most frequent and best wind here blows from the west in the onshore direction. You can encounter here from pleasant to very strong windy conditions. In stronger winds, the surface of the water is choppy, the surf in the shallows can be strong and farther from the shore with bigger waves.
There are also kitesurfing schools in the Rinia Sector, so it is also suitable spot for complete beginners.
