Ayvalik

Ayvalik is a traditional seaside town on the Northern Aegean Sea in Turkey located on the southern coast of the Gulf of Edremit.

Ayvalik belongs to Turkey’s secret spots, which means you can enjoy riding here with a handful of kiters around you. The water is flat like a lagoon and crystal clear, with winds around 20 knots every day in high season.

Ayvalik relies mainly on the Meltemi, a strong northwest wind that blows through the Greek islands in the summertime. Here, it is accelerated by a thermal wind, making it a bit stronger and more reliable.

The kiting area around Kite Beach is approximately three nautical miles (over 5 km!), which means there is plenty of space for everyone. In Ayvalik, the wind comes mainly sideshore but can occasionally turn a bit to side on-shore. This allows you to enjoy the whole expanse of the area since it is flat everywhere.

The seabed is made of sand with bigger stone particles.

The flat and shallow water make the spot suitable for learning to kitesurf, freestylers, and freeriding.

One of its highlights has to be the fantastic sunset sessions or the shipwreck on the shallow seabed, which creates a unique sight.
