Gokceada Eselek

Gokceada is the largest Turkish island. There are two different spots with diverse conditions situated in the southeast of the island. The first spot is located just by a village called Eselek. The beach is 2.5 km long and has onshore wind. The second spot is situated just around the corner on Aydincik Beach.

On Gokceada, you can count on regular and powerful Meltemi winds, the northern wind typical for the Aegean Sea. It is strongest in the morning and drops as the day goes by. The wind frequently picks up again around 5 o'clock.

The season starts in May and ends in October. During the peak months of July and August, there is a 90% probability of wind stronger than 14 knots. It is not unusual for the Meltemi to be stronger than 25 knots.

The wind on Eselek Beach blows onshore. It is very strong, especially in the morning, sometimes also gusty, and the angle of the wind changes slightly throughout the day. In the morning, with strong wind, there are waves; as the day goes by, the wind drops and changes angle, subsequently turning the waves into a chop.

Eselek Beach is sandy and 2.5 km long, providing plenty of room for everyone. There are no dangerous sharp rocks, and the gradual entry into the water makes it perfect for beginners.
