Velika Plaza is the longest beach with Mediterranean weather in Montenegro. This huge beach is reported to be 12Kms long and 60mts wide, with soft sand and opens up to crystal clear ocean water that offers shallow, flat, and choppy areas, along with small to medium waves. It is a ideal kitesurfing spot for riders of any level.
Plenty of space for launching, no important hazards or obstacles, and the first 50mts with shallow water. Deeper waters turning more choppy and wavy. Given the good amount of space available this spot can be ideal for beginners.
There are several kitesurfing clubs around here. Almost all of them have a beach bar with refreshing drinks and chill music.
We stayed at the Tropicana campground which is simple, but nicely placed in a pine tree forest. This location is perfect, since the beach is right in front of the camping and it’s set between two areas with sunbeams. So there is lots of space to launch your kite. We were there in August in the main season, but once you’re out of the swimming area, you have the ocean all to yourself. Highly recommended!
Velika Plaza is a huge crowded beach. But we find a nice place in front of our Tropicana camp site without any sun umbrellas, almost without any people and kiters. We enjoyed a few nice and interesting kite sessions.
