The mouth of the Tahaddart River (Oued Tahaddart), located 20 miles south of Tangier and 8 miles north of Asilah, offers a prime kitesurfing spot with a flatwater lagoon ideal for freeride and freestyle sessions.
This lagoon provides smooth conditions for kitesurfing in nearly any wind direction, with winds typically coming from the North, Northeast, East, West, and Northwest. During spring and summer, thermal and frontal winds prevail, while wind conditions are less frequent in winter.
For those seeking waves, you can kite or walk to the outside of the sandbank to access the wide sandy beach and open ocean for wave riding. Avoid kitesurfing when easterly winds blow offshore.
This spot lacks safety infrastructure, especially outside the summer season, so buddy support are essential. Despite the absence of local amenities, kite schools from Tangier or Tarifa often organize trips here. For them, Tahaddart is a popular destination for kitesurfing courses and freeride day trips.
