Praia de Cumbuco (Cumbuco Beach) Is a great kitesurfing wheater-wise all year and it really picks up during kiting season on the winter. You will find waves and choppy water and decent winds.
Cumbuco beach is 4km of white sand lined with coconut trees which on low tide becomes a wide stretch off beach and on high tide a fairly narrow stretch. Cumbuco, being so close to Fortaleza, fills up with swimmers and kitesurfers on weekends and during high season, necessitating constant awareness of your surroundings.
Sea conditions are a little choppy but there are flat water zones with tiny waves around sandbanks on low tide. As the tide rises, waves get stronger and bigger and waters become even choppier. The more leeward, the bigger the waves.
