Jomtien Beach in Pattaya is a well-known kitesurfing spot located 10 km south of the city, offering a long sandy shoreline and lighter winds, making it an excellent destination for beginners and hydrofoil riders. All kitesurfing schools in Pattaya are based here.
The best wind conditions occur from mid-November to mid-January when the northeast wind blows at 12-25 knots, side to side-offshore. The tides are high during this period, providing good conditions for riding.
From mid-January to June, the wind shifts to the west, becoming lighter but onshore, and with lower tides creating waist-deep water, making it easier for beginners to learn.
The rainy season starts in May and lasts until November, bringing mostly pretty light winds.
A significant advantage of Jomtien Beach is that it has been designated a motorsport-free zone, meaning no jet skis or speedboats, allowing kitesurfers to enjoy a peaceful and safe riding experience.
