Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) on the island of Brač is one of the most picturesque spots along the Adriatic coast.
Kitesurfing Restrictions:
Main Beach (Zlatni Rat): Kitesurfing is prohibited on the main beach during the high season, from July to August. During this time, the only permitted locations for launching and landing kites are designated kite schools.
Kitesurfing Centers and Costs:
Kite School Bol (Near Zlatni Rat):
Cost: 25 euros per person per day Services: This kitesurfing center offers lessons, equipment rental, storage, and other related services. It’s one of the few places where kitesurfing is allowed, particularly during the peak season.
Kite School Active Bol (Aloa Camping):
Cost: 20 euros per person per day Unique Feature: This spot includes a platform in the water that enables kite launching, which would otherwise be very difficult in this location.
Wind Conditions:
Maestral Wind: The area benefits from the Maestral wind, which is consistent, balanced in strength, and typically blows between the islands of Brač and Hvar. This creates excellent kitesurfing conditions, with wind speeds often ranging between 18-28 knots. You can expect 2 to 6 hours of "kitesurfable" wind almost daily.
Other information:
Limited Launch Sites: Outside of the three designated areas—Zlatni Rat, the private spot of Kite School Bol, and the private spot of Kite School Active Bol—launching a kite in Bol is extremely difficult, if not impossible.
1. It is not possible (or rather extremely hard) to lunch a kite except from 3 places: Zlatni Rat, Small private spot of Kite School Bol (city center), private spot of Kite School Active Bol (Aloa Camping)
2. It is forbidden to launch kites from Zlatni rat in high season July – August
3. Launching from Kite School Bol cost 25 euro per person per day
4. Launching from Active Bol costs 20 euro per person per day
5. Active Bol has a platform in the water which allows the start, which would be impossible otherwise in this place.
6. My experience was a good wind 18-28 knots from 2 up to 6 hours, almost everyday for two weeks
Information from 2024 – I’ve been there kiting. I will try to respond to any questions. I write this because there is very little information anywhere.
