Obidos lagoon

The Óbidos Lagoon offers ideal conditions for learning kitesurfing and advancing with complete safety. Located just a 1½-hour drive north of Lisbon, less than an hour from Nazaré, and 30 minutes from the renowned surf spots of Peniche.

There are two main kitesurfing spots on the Óbidos Lagoon:

Top of the Lagoon

The top of the lagoon, with its sandy, flat, and shallow water, is directly open to the ocean, providing a consistent wind. Please note that this spot is closed to kitesurfers from June 15 to September 15 and is not suitable during low tide or for foil enthusiasts.

Inside the Lagoon

The second spot inside the lagoon is open for navigation throughout the year and is suitable for foil enthusiasts. The wind is stronger than at the top of the lagoon due to a venturi effect, and the best period for kitesurfing is from April to November (warmer water and more windy days). It is advisable to wear shoes on this spot due to shells and seaweed.
