Martinhal is a long beach located near Sagres, about 30 minutes from Lagos. Martinhal offering great conditions in the summer with gusty side offshore winds and flat waters dominated by the wind from the north.
Nortada blows the strongest and most reliable in this part of the Algarve. Although the preferred wind directions at Martihal for kiting are South, South-East and East.
It's important to note that the water temperature is very cold, so a warm wetsuit is necessary.
During the summer, the beach can be busy with people sunbathing, but in the afternoons, the crowd diminishes rapidly due to the wind.
In the winter, Martinhal can be challenging, particularly with south winds, which create a lot of shorebreak waves and currents.
