Kite Power El Gouna

Kite Power El Gouna offers a vast, shallow expanse of crystal-clear water perfect for kitesurfing, stretching 1 km wide and approximately 1 km long towards the reef. Beyond the reef, additional shallows provide stunning opportunities for scenic excursions.

The bottom is sandy without any dangerous corals. The water depth varies with the tide, ranging from approximately 40-70cm. During low tide, kitesurfing is possible near the beach, but you need to move about 30-50m away to find water everywhere. During high tide, the water reaches chest-deep, but there are areas with less water suitable for training.

Egypt has a year-round wind season, although there are months when the wind is more likely and when it is warmer or colder. In terms of wind strength, El Gouna is statistically stronger than Hurghada - thermals here kick in almost every morning at 10-12 knots, even when no wind is forecasted. According to meteorological stations, the wind in El Gouna is 2-4 knots stronger compared to Hurghada.

The winter period here is from December to March. During this time, it is necessary to wear a full wetsuit. The wind is strong but can also turn off and blow weakly only in the morning.

The summer period is from April to November when it is necessary to wear a short wetsuit in the first and last months, and then ride in boardshorts with a lycra top. Statistically, the wind is around 70% and some months have 100% wind at 6m/s every day.

In El Gouna, the most commonly used kite sizes are 10-13m in lighter winds and around 8-9m in stronger winds. Occasionally, the wind can pick up, and in those cases, riders use 5-7m kites. There are also weak wind days when only our Flysurfer foils, sized 15-21m, come out to save the day when the wind is only blowing at 10 knots.
