Just a 30-minute drive south of Casablanca, the former fishing village of Dar Bouazza has transformed into a suburban area. While primarily a surf zone, it regularly experiences light thermal winds, with occasional stronger gusts that attract kitesurfers from the city. The main kitesurfing spot is Oued Merzeg Beach, where the metropolitan kitesurfing crowd gathers.
In the spring, steady northeast or northwest winds can occasionally be found. During winter, stronger, gusty winds from the south, often accompanied by big swells, sometimes create excellent wave sessions with cross-shore winds at Oued Merzeg.
Oued Merzeg is a large sandy beach at the mouth of a (not-so-clean) river. There is plenty of space for safe launching and landing, but be cautious of the rocks and sea urchins in the water, especially at low tide.
