The kitesurfing spot of Witsand is a great spot for riders of all levels because it offers a wide variety of water conditions from shallow, flat, and choppy to even small to medium sized waves.
A sandbar separates the lagoon from the sea. Flat water riding is a terrific way to perform tricks while being safe for all riders. On an Easterly, it's fantastic. On a SW, it can get quite windy. Witsand's beach is level and clean, making it an excellent place to learn to kitesurf. At times, the tide comes straight up to the sand dunes. So, if the tide is coming in, don't leave your kite in regions where it might become wet.
While you are kiting on a spot without many services, or any at all, you are trading that off for a mostly empty spot where you are more likely to find other riders than any other type of beachgoer.
