Lake Iskar, Bulgaria’s largest inland lake, offers a unique freshwater kitesurfing experience just 15 km from Borovets and about an hour from Sofia. Stretching over 25 km in length and up to 8 km in width, this lake is a true playground for water sports enthusiasts. With an altitude of 800 meters, it's not only a scenic spot but also a great escape from the summer heat.
Kitesurfers can enjoy sessions powered by frontal winds—especially from the northwest, which provides the most reliable conditions. The season runs from May to October, offering a pleasant window for kiting, as well as opportunities for sailing, kayaking, and fishing. Surrounded by forested hills and peaceful nature, Lake Iskar is ideal for both adrenaline and short-term recreation by the water.
