Ibiraquera is a nice dual kitesurfing spot very near to the town of Imbituba. It offers a beach to the ocean for the intermediate to expert level riders, and a lagoon for those that are just getting started.
Imbituba is a seaside town in the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil, about an hour south of Florianopolis. The town isn't very well-known as a tourist attraction. It is most known for its National Right Whale Conservation Center and the fact that it has been designated as an Environmental Protection Area as a result of conservation efforts.
Ibiraquera's beach is sandy, with clear seas and large waves/tubes that are usually higher than 2.5 meters (8 feet). The wind is normally 7-20 kn/13-37 kph and blows from the northeast. If you wish to kitesurf in Ibiraquera, you'll need at least an intermediate level of experience.
Ibiraquera lagoon, on the other hand, is always there for people who aren't sure of their talents. You may kitesurf in Ibiraquera Lagoon whether you have previous experience or not, because there are no waves to contend with. The bottom is also sandy, and the wind direction and strength are identical to those found at Ibiraquera Beach.
